Business goal

Goal

The goal is to build a comprehensive analytics platform that allows users in the offshore rig sector to access real-time data and analytics, identify operational issues, compare performance with competitors and targets, and simulate equipment scenarios.


Tech details

Monitor the data using sensors on the working rig and provide information about the energy consumption of the utilities and operating equipment.

Design challenge

My responsibilities

This is my first design project at Esgian, where I’m tasked with redesigning the product and exploring the possibility of restructuring the visual aspects. The challenge lies in presenting the complex data related to wind farm development. Through a series of UX workshops with the PM, analyst, and key stakeholders, I gained a better understanding of the entire lifecycle of wind farm development, the personas involved, and their needs throughout the process. We landed on a solution that visualizes all relevant data using a comprehensive map. This allows users to access multiple layers of information simultaneously and easily navigate through different levels of data..

Duration

From receiving the design task to handing off the design to the development team, the entire process took over 2 months.

Process

The design process starts with establishing a clear UX strategy that aligns user needs with business goals. After gaining a thorough understanding of the business goals and constraints, I led the design process, which involved conducting user research, analyzing industry benchmarks in the rig sector, and defining key objectives for the user experience. The process incorporates both divergent and convergent thinking, encompassing research, ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and iterative testing to ensure a user-centered design.

Design outcome

The design deliverables include a design system for Wind analytics, design guidelines, polished UI, and design documentation.

Feedback

The project has received lot of positive feedback internally. After launching the first version,  Greenpact live contracted by Borr Drilling and currently in the pilot phase with an oil companies in the Middle East.

The design has received the prestigious iF Design Award 2025, recognizing its functionality, usability, and impact.
